The North West Mounted Police was created in 1873 ,
to establish law and order on Canada's western plains.
Beginning with a contingent of only 150 recruits, the Force
paved the way for settlers by fostering friendly relation with Aboriginal
People and eliminating the lawlessness that had flourished in the area.
For many years, MPs carried out every duty concerned with civil authority in
the Northwest- from delivering mail to fighting fire.
Their deeds and heroes became legendary in CANADA.
